This is deeply personal
I was part of the very first wave of mass layoffs during the 2023 U.S. Banking Crisis. After leading projects at Silvergate Bank for nearly five incredible years, I felt numb when HR called me on January 5, 2023. I was let go effective immediately.
Two months later, Silvergate announced it was going to voluntarily shut down. Better enterprise risk management may have prevented this, along with the subsequent failures at Signature Bank, Silicon Valley Bank, and First Republic.
While at Silvergate, I personally witnessed the challenges of scaling quickly and spoke up about our concentration risk. These challenges, and our very manual processes for managing policies and procedures, led me to build Asterisk.
Asterisk is the platform I wish we'd had at Silvergate. It's the platform that leaders in risk, compliance, and operations can use to empower their teams and improve the long-term health and growth of their organizations.
I lost my job and investments in a bank that many people believed in and relied on. Now, I'm committed to empowering organizations with tools to scale and operate responsibly for the sake of their teams, customers, and stakeholders.
